For many of us, Pentecost is a distant holiday celebration. But perhaps as we explore the birthday of the Christian Church we will find ourselves longing for the Pentecost-perspective and impact in us and through us!

This weekend is ‘Pentecost’ in the Christian calendar. We celebrate the day when the power of the Holy Spirit fell upon the fearful disciples, empowering them, transforming them, enabling them to be God’s people in God’s world. Surely we all need the same power, and thankfully, the same power is available!

Facing rejection, relational tension, is all too familiar to Jesus (especially in his hometown, and even his own family). But he shows us how to navigate those challenges well and sends us out (while all the while never leaving us)!
