Pastor John Mehl leads the discussion on some thoughts from Easter Sunday's message.
Luke 23:32-46 On Friday, after celebrating the Passover with His disciples, Jesus went to the Garden of Gethsemane to pray. It was there that He was arrested, before being tortured, and crucified. Jesus offered His life for us by dying on the cross for our sin, and taking the weight of our wrongdoing upon Himself. But His story isn’t over. Come back on Easter Sunday to hear the good news.
Luke 22:14-30 On Thursday at the last supper, Jesus and His disciples ate, drank, and prayed together. Jesus used the bread and wine to represent his body and blood as he explained the significance of what he was about to do on the cross.
Luke 22:1-6 On Wednesday, Jesus continued his teaching, which only riled up Jewish leaders. The tipping point came when a woman honored Jesus by anointing him with really expensive oil. This didn't sit well with Judas, who went straight to the religious authorities and offered to deliver Jesus into their hands.
Mark 11:15–19 Jesus was angry that the traders and money changers did not respect the Temple as a place of worship. They were taking advantage of the poor and disrespecting God’s house. They were literally capitalizing upon people’s desires and needs to draw near to God, and it enraged Jesus.
