Have you ever celebrated someone’s birthday for more than just a single day? Maybe over a whole weekend? A week? Or even a whole month (okay, that might be a bit much!)? What are we trying to communicate to the person when we do something like that? We’re going above and beyond in our efforts to lavish celebration and love on them! We’re trying to let them know, in extravagant, over-the-top ways, that they are deeply cherished!
Isn’t that the heart behind Advent? Doesn’t it seem like simply celebrating the birth of Jesus, our Messiah, for a single day (Christmas) is too little for the adoration He deserves? So, in the church world, we celebrate Christmas Eve and often hold a whole month’s worth of weekend services as part of an Advent sermon series. We join alongside the time-tested church calendar of practices across the globe and throughout the ages—because Jesus deserves the greatest, most extravagant celebration of the moment in history when God became man for our sake!
John 3:16 – For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life!
For years—at least as long as I’ve been at Timberline (about 10 years)—Timberline Windsor has hosted various festivals or celebrations, whether at the Farm or the Windsor Campus, to help us prepare for Advent. More than just “ramping up the holiday festivities,” these events have always been opportunities to tune our hearts to the vastness, wonder, and uniqueness of Jesus' birth.
Isaiah 40:3 – Prepare the way of the Lord; make straight in the desert a highway for our God!
This year is special.
This year provides us with an opportunity to do something we haven’t done before. If you’ve never been to Timberline Church’s Farm property—just up Crossroads Blvd. from the Windsor Campus—you’ll notice a new neighborhood next to the church’s 20 acres, which has been farmland for decades. The church’s big-picture hope is that this property will one day be the Windsor Campus’s new location. But for now, the Farm property, which currently serves as the home of Timberline Windsor’s Student Ministry, is largely open, flat space.
In this unique season of church and neighborhood development, we have a blank canvas of land and opportunity at the Farm! We don’t know what the future holds or how often all three campuses will be able to host an event of this scale in the years to come. But we know the opportunity we have right now… and WE’RE GOING FOR IT!
We’re extending the celebration far beyond just a birthday weekend or week—because Jesus deserves it (yes, even a whole “birthday month”!), the community needs it, and our hearts are blessed as we align with the enormity of the Christmas celebration!
Now, for the specifics:
Christmas at the Farm is a celebration for all three Timberline campuses and the wider Northern Colorado community. Join us Friday, December 6th, at The Farm (29918 County Road 17, Windsor) from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. for an open-house-style event—come and go as you please!
This celebration has something for everyone: top-quality music from all three Timberline Church campuses, delicious food trucks, a powerful walk through Bethlehem experience (complete with a live petting zoo), enchanting décor, and cozy spaces for fellowship. There’s truly something perfect for you—and for the friends and family you invite along!
Men, women, and children of Timberline Church, let’s join in our passion to reach the community with an event that puts our best foot forward—offering a warm welcome, joyful celebration, and a season that invites everyone to experience the joy and peace of Christ through our church services and ministries. WE’RE GOING FOR IT!
