The content below is intended to provide a variety of helpful resources on difficult yet relevant subjects, in this case, prayer and fasting. We recognize that some sources may come into question for any number of reasons, and the following are not offered with a blanket endorsement of every word spoken or written. We believe God uses imperfect people every day, and the following are just as fallible as anyone — yet if they may be helpful, we want to share them with you.

In Mark Chapter 2, the people questioned Jesus about fasting and we still have questions about fasting today. Why would I do it? Do people still do that? Is fasting just for the super Christians? In this message, Pastor Josh McGinley discusses the importance and the power found in spiritual disciplines and how they can lead us into a deeper and more intimate relationship with Jesus. Pastor Donny Abbott teaches on the different ways your walk with God can reflect how God hardwired you to be. In this message, Pastor Brent teaches on ascetics, who want nothing more than to be left alone in prayer. To start off 2023, some of our Timberline family took part in seven days of prayer and fasting to intentionally position our hearts in a place that was ready to sense and receive God's nudge. Though the seven days are over, we wanted to provide resources that would enable you to partake in your own seven-day devotional of praying and fasting.
Click on any of the images below to download the PDF of scripture and journal prompts for each of the seven days. Use them for your own personal devotional, a family program, or a group bible study!
