SERVE Day

The churches in Northern Colorado believe that the local church is the Hope of the World. When we follow Jesus we know that we are to love God and our neighbors. After all, what if Jesus meant that we should love our actual neighbors?

The role of SERVE 6.8 in the community is to help connect hurting people to their neighborhood church and community. To carry out this mission, collaborating churches will be leading a service day where small groups, neighbors, family, friends, etc. will be working together to serve their neighbors by doing family-friendly projects located across the city, on one day, together.

When is SERVE Day?

SERVE Day is July 16th, 2016. While SERVE Day will be all day, each project may have a different start and end time. After you complete your project for SERVE Day, you are invited to join us at Vineyard Church (1201 Riverside Ave, Fort Collins, 80524) anytime between 12:00-7:00pm to enjoy some grilled food and celebrate the impact made in the city.

Project Examples:

  • Home or car repairs for elderly, disabled, widows, or single moms.
  • Help a family with any medical needs or a new baby with meals.
  • Help elderly in your neighborhood with yard work, grocery store runs, frozen meals, etc. or visit a local assisted living home.
  • Neighborhood yard clean-up.
  • Neighborhood get-together (potluck, BBQ, etc.) to build relationships.
  • Visit a local laundromat and fill machines with coins.

Want to start your own project?

Consider the following:

  • Who is in need in your neighborhood?
  • Consider what you can do to build relationships and community in your neighborhood.
  • What skills do your group members have that they can contribute to the project?
  • Does anyone in your group have connections to any businesses that can donate any product to your project?

Want to volunteer? Have a project idea?

Each Church will be developing and managing their own projects with their members and small groups (which includes details about a project's focus, location, time, etc.). SERVE 6.8 will be working together with the collaborating churches to provide assistance with project organization, resources, and leadership.
